Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has supplied approximately 85,000 tonnes of steel for the Sardar Sarovar Project, fulfilling nearly 80 percent of the total steel requirement for one of India’s most significant multipurpose river valley developments.
The substantial contribution underscores SAIL’s pivotal role in supporting large-scale national infrastructure projects by ensuring a reliable supply of high-quality steel for complex engineering and construction activities. The Sardar Sarovar Project required extensive steel inputs for dam construction, structural reinforcements, and various associated infrastructure works, making timely material availability a critical factor in project execution.
SAIL’s supply supported the smooth progress of construction activities and contributed to the achievement of key project milestones. The company’s involvement highlights the importance of domestic steel manufacturers in delivering essential materials for strategically important infrastructure projects and strengthening India’s industrial capabilities.
The contribution also aligns with the broader national focus on promoting indigenous manufacturing and self-reliance in core sectors. Through its participation in major infrastructure initiatives, SAIL continues to play an important role in supporting economic development, nation-building, and the expansion of India’s infrastructure network.
